Big Biller Audiobook – Countdown to Launch
Just over a year ago, Dallas-based executive headhunter Bill Vick and I completed our co-authored LinkedIn for Recruiting, a series of recorded interviews and accompanying e-book, showing how a number of recruiters and other industry specialists make use of the social networking site LinkedIn. I’m h appy to say it’s still selling and we are still getting great comments back on how helpful it’s been.
This coming week we release the result of our latest collaboration, Big Biller, an audiobook with a difference. In thirty one interviews, Bill has interviewed a group of Big Billers, people who bill a million or more a year, consistently, and other industry leaders, specialists and commentators. That’s ten hours of interviews, which we are providing on DVD and also making available online to purchasers.
The ‘book’ part of this audiobook is a 90 page ebook as a downloadable PDF, in which we have provided a map, so to speak, of the interviews.
Listening and re-listening to the interviews, in which these industry masters go way beyond the usual war-story, snippet-sharing style of “success story” interviews and reveal real secrets of success, share daily timetables, explain how they negotiate, we have identified the recurring themes and keys to success, and put all of that into very readable e-book form, with lots of extended quotes from the interviews, a kind of cumulative “how to” manual of recruiting success, with specific action steps included.
I’m sure most people who write books have moments of wondering how readable, how useful their work is going to prove once released. I know I’ve had my moments in the past couple of months where I just left the computer and went to the beach! But I’m happy to say the pre-release comments we have had from a bunch of industry experts have been very encouraging. (Bill Vick, being a Texan, would probably say – and justifiably – what do you mean “encouraging”, Des, they have been fantastic! )
For example, Danny Sarch, President, Leitner Sarch Associates, and President of The Pinnacle Society, wrote:
Bill Vick & Des Walsh have written an extraordinary book which truly illuminates the vitality, energy, and drive of some of the absolute best in the recruiting industry. The practitioners profiled are amazingly diverse in their niches, backgrounds, and personalities. What makes the book so special is Bill’s ability to find the commonalities among this wonderfully skilled group of people and detail their common skills and characteristics. Any recruiter who takes the time to listen and read will end up being a more skilled craftsman.
