Getting started at the Social Media Roadmap Masterclass at Bond University, October 2, 2009. Associate Professor Michael Rees at the lectern.
Next week, on September 29, I’m teaming up with Associate Professor Michael Rees of Bond University to deliver a one day workshop for businesses in the Brisbane (Australia) area on social media. Then the following week, on October 2, we do that again on the Gold Coast. (Update: Brisbane workshop now postponed to a date to be fixed; Gold Coast event still on.)
It’s all being organised by the go-ahead people at Bond University’s Centre for Executive Education (CEE) and there are more details on the CEE website at this link.
In this video, Michael and I talk about the workshop and what people can expect to learn on the day. The emphasis will be on practical tools and strategies for people’s businesses.
In a separate post I’ll share some of the “interesting” experience we’ve had in getting from the idea of recording and uploading a video of ourselves in different locations to the actual achievement, a process not lacking in challenges!
I knew I’d been talking, more than doing, about my social media roadmap workshop concept when the last person’s eyes glazed over. Yes, it’s been a while coming!
But at last, in tandem with my friend and colleague Associate Professor Michael Rees (@mrees on Twitter) from nearby Bond University, I’ll be presenting the first workshop next Tuesday evening, August 25th, from 6 pm to 8 pm, here on Australia’s Gold Coast.
The workshop is one of a series being organised by, and under the banner of, the Centre for Executive Education (CEE) at Bond. This will be a condensed, 2 hour version. Full day workshops are being planned for late September to early October, in Brisbane, on the Gold Coast and in Sydney.
In the video here, CEE Director Melinda Muir talks to Michael and me about the workshop and what benefit people can expect to get from it.
We are planning a dynamic workshop and the numbers are already looking good, but I understand there are still some seats available.
For more information and/or to register for the event, check out the Contact page for CEE (there is currently a glitch with trying to reach the registration page from the link on the CEE events page, which is why I’m recommending making contact with the Centre via the contact page).
This post is an unabashed promo for a social media workshop I’ll be doing a couple of weeks from now here on my home turf on Australia’s Gold Coast, on August 25th, with my friend and colleague, Associate Professor Michael Rees, from Bond University.
The two hour workshop is by way of an introduction to the concept and practice of developing a social media roadmap for a business or organisation – or for an individual career, for that matter. It’s being delivered as part of the program of Bond University’s Centre for Executive Education (CEE). You can get an idea of the workshop’s content from this video, in which Centre Director Melinda Muir interviews Michael and me.
The event will be held on Tuesday 25th August at University Club, Level 3, University Centre, Bond University.
Michael has set up a neat site, using Google Moderator, to provide a way for people planning to attend the workshop to raise, in advance, any issues and questions they may have on the topic of a developing a social media roadmap.
