LinkedIn Bloggers is a forum for discussing how blogging and related technologies, such as podcasting, video blogging (vlogging)and wikis can support members’ professional networking using LinkedIn.
The group was established early in 2005 by Vincent Wright, who subsequently handed responsibility for the group to founding moderator, Des Walsh. There are now four moderators in all: the others are Dennis McDonald, Robyn Tippins and Sarah Lewis.
Currently, the group is on the Yahoo! Groups platform.
The only requirement for membership is that the person be a member of LinkedIn. Those who are not members of LinkedIn and wish to join LinkedIn Bloggers can join LinkedIn at the basic (free) level – and of course can consider then or later having a paid membership. In applying to join LinkedIn Bloggers it is an essential requirement that the application include the person’s LinkedIn profile: how to get that is explained on the LinkedIn Bloggers home page.
A challenge for some when applying is where to put the LinkedIn profile link: in the current configuration of the Yahoo! Groups the only way to do that is to include the link in the comments.
Or contact us via the Contact page on this blog and we will endeavour to help you sort it out.
Note: On the LinkedIn site, within the section for LinkedIn Groups, there is “another” group by the name of LinkedIn Bloggers: it is effectively a sub-group of the larger group, insofar as membership of the group on LinkedIn is managed and subject to the approval of the moderators on the Yahoo! Groups gathering, where the actual discussions and exchanges of information take place. (Update: LinkedIn Groups on the LinkedIn platform now have discussion functionality and other new features more conducive to interaction.)
