Des, hi,

That's a great diagram of the social media - particularly in the way they've been categorised.

The sites I use primarily are Twitter, BlogCatalog, Digg and LinkedIn. There are also a number of sites where I have accounts that pull in posts from my RSS feed (Facebook, Tumblr, Squidoo, Plaxo), but I really don't spend too much time on them.

There's simply not enough time in the day to focus on more than 3 or, max, 4 on a regular basis. Re your comment about shocking the social media enthusiasts - most of the social media gurus that I follow would take the line you've taken.

Certainly you should sign up for as many as possible, but you need to quickly work out which ones give you the best return and restrict your efforts to those.

Good to catch up again and I like your new blog layout!

Cheers,

Martin.

Wow!

Images do convey a thousand words!

My daily routine starts the moment I launch my browser and click "Open Tabs in a Group". GMail, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Ping, is.gd, Delicious and Digg spring to life. It took me some time to understand from others what they liked and why they liked it for me to become an adopter.

The value I have been blessed to receive has been the introduction to the people behind the screen name, and not the number of networks.

Let's see where I am at a year from now.

Hi Des - glad you liked my post! It's the number one question I'm asked. I also use Flickr, both personally and for all of my clients, check in every couple of days on Facebook, and visit YouTube daily.

I hadn't seen the conversation prism, but will definitely use it in a presentation later this week. thanks for the heads up.
