Some people will begin blogging about numerous subjects of interest and naturally evolve to focus on areas of greater interest. I've visited blogs with a sense that the blogger is multi-tasking and others with a clear intention and concentration. Each blogger finds his or her own niche, develops an audience and runs with it. Sometimes instinct is a great guide!

I certainly understand your struggle. My equivalent to deswalsh.com is the Pacific Highlander blog. Only problem is that I don't have a lot of traffic there compared to some other sites I run. Maybe the solution is to have excerpts from this at the high traffic blog - raising awareness of the issues I'm blogging on and building traffic as well.

I blog religion usually but also love scifi and tech stuff. I started a second blog for the tech stuff but found that when I was writing about scifi, I was looking at religious themes in the the scifi so I never know where to post about scifi! Like you I try to develop a kind of policy to try and make the decision. The thing is that there is always one blog that you kind of work on and favour more than the others.
